We are a team that consists of Mother (Bev) and Daughter (Michelle). Michelle is a fully qualified Animal Technician, who started showing Burmese cats in 1995 (at the tender age of 16) and began breeding Burmese in 1996. Michelle had been desperately seeking a Birman to show and breed since 1994, however with no such luck she decided to settle for her second favorite breed, the Burmese. Michelle had tremendous success with her Burmese which she showed under the 'Braylee' prefix. She was the owner of the C.A.V. 1998 Kitten of the Year. However, even with all the success gained through the Burmese, it was still the Birman that held a very special place in her heart. After almost giving up all hope of ever being able to show and breed one of these magnificent creatures, Michelle finally decided in early 2002, to give the search one last go. It was just by chance that Michelle noticed an advertisement on the 'Cats of Australia' website for a male, show quality, seal point birman kitten that was to be a neuter. Although she really wanted a female, she decided to enquire about the boy anyway. The next day Michelle & Bev made their way to Anne Davis’s of Shakandah Birmans, where they were to meet their future show boy ‘Rocky’. Michelle and Rocky bonded immediately and Michelle noticed, that there was something particularly special about this boy, so decided to bite the bullet and ask Anne if she would allow Rocky to be her future stud cat (even though at that stage there were no girls in the picture!). Thankfully, after a moment’s hesitation, Anne agreed and two weeks later Rocky came home. Luckily enough, once Rocky was in the picture, finding the girls became a breeze. A few days before Rocky was due to come home, Michelle & Bev were at a show where a lovely blue point girl had been advertised for sale. Two days later, the little blue point girl escorted them home, with Rocky arriving the following day and thus saw the start of Tanisha Birmans. 2003 marked the beginning of a joyous event, something so special that had been anticipated for so long - the birth of the first 'Tanisha Birmans'. Sadly it also became time to farewell the Braylee Burmese - something wonderful that needed to move on in order to make way for something even more wonderful.
We are located in Victoria, Australia - 30 minutes west of Melbourne's CBD and 30 minutes east of Geelong.
